Armstrong – Services for Arthur Cassem, 76, Armstrong, are tentatively set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong, with interment in the Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

He died Friday at San Clemente, Calif.

Armstrong – Services for Arthur Sherman Cassem, 77, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Nazareth Lutheran Church with Pastor Donohue Sarff officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. He died Friday, Feb. 6, 1987 at San Clemente General Hospital, San Clemente, Calif.

Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home of Armstrong is in charge of arrangements.

He was born August 12, 1909 at Joliet, Ill, the son of Ben and Clara Cassem. He attended Swea City School. On Feb. 20, 1932 he was united in marriage with Nellie L. Anvick at Estherville. He lived and farmed in the Armstrong area his entire life and retired in 1969 and moved into Armstrong where he continued to live until his death. He was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church; former Armstrong School Board Member; member DEK Rural Electric and former ASCS Board member.,

Survivors include a son Lowell, Los Gatos, Calif.; two daughters: Dorothy Blietz, Placentia, Calif. and Mrs. Robert (Verdell) Monson, Rock Rapids; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Arden; two sisters: Mrs. Orville (Bernice) Opsal, Fairmont, Minn. and Mrs. William (Erma) Tordoff, Sarasota, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his wife March 3, 1986; his parents and one great-grandchild. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 11, 1987)
