Armstrong – Services for Mrs. Orval (Lila) Jones, 69, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong, with Pastor Donohue Sarff officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. She died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1986 at Valley Vue Care Center, Armstrong. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lila Mae Cassem was born May 2, 1917 at Swea City, the daughter of Ben and Clara Cassem. She attended Swea City School. On Sept. 23, 1935 she was unite in marriage with Orval Jones at Armstrong. The couple farmed northwest of Armstrong for 36 years before moving into town where she lived until her death. She was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church and Harmony Sewing Club.

Survivors include one son Arlo and wife Carolyn Jones, Armstrong and one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Arla) Heck, Muskego, Wis.; four grandchildren; two brothers: Art Cassem, Armstrong and Arden Cassem; two sisters: Mrs. Orville (Bernice) Opsal, Fairmont, Minn. and Mrs. William (Erma) Tordoff, Sarasota, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jan. 4, 1979; an infant son; grandson; one brother and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 27, 1985)
