Knute K. Bergene, 87, retired town of Cato farmer, died yesterday.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Berge funeral home in Valders and at 2 o'clock at the Gjerpen Lutheran church, the Rev. Norman Berntson officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
Mr. Bergene was born Dec. 5, 1859, in Valders, Norway, and came to this country at the age of six.
In 1898, he married Emma Anderson.
Survivors are four sons, Edward and Albert of route 4, Manitowoc, Norman of Cato and Kenneth on the home farm; three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Wachtel of Two Rivers, Mrs. Ruth Van Lannen of Manitowoc and Mrs. Alma Brandt of Greenleaf; and 15 grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the Berge funeral home from Wednesday noon until time of services on Thursday.
