Died, at his residence, Ingleside, Westmoreland county, Va., on Sunday, September 20th, at 8 o'clock, after a painful illness of two weeks, ALEXANDER McGill HEPBURN, son of Judge Samuel Hepburn, of Carlisle, Pa, in the twenty-third year of his age.

The son of Judge Samuel & Rebecca (Williamson) Hepburn, in 1850 he lived with his family in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, but in 1860, the family resided in Philadelphia.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Harrisburg July 15, 1864, mustered into federal service there July 18 as a private with Co. D, 194th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company November 6, 1864.
After the war, he moved to Virginia.
He was a brother to Hopewell Hepburn.
