Edward Dana Stauffer
Aug. 12, 1924 - March 18, 2012

Edward Dana Stuafffer took his final step of faith as he walked into the arms of Jesus on March 18, 2012 at the age of 87, while at Hopewell House Hospice. Ed dearly loved his four children, Michael (Anita), Diane Steeves (Walt), Mark (Sue), and Melinda Perrin (Daniel); ten grandchildren, Elizabeth, Georgie, Carrie, Andrew, Lauren, Joshua, Meagan, Annie, Sean, and Claire; and two great-grandchildren, Max and Madelaine. Ed was the son of Rev. Edward C. and Hope Dana Stauffer. He was born in Swea City, Iowa, on Aug. 12, 1924. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings. Ed grew up in the Midwest but moved to Oregon when he was 12. He graduated from Milwaukie High School in 1942, and immediately joined the U.S. Marine Corps. As a decorated Marine, Ed served in a dangerous position laying telephone cable ahead of the troops landing in Tarawa, Saipan, and Tinian during World War II.
After leaving the Marine Corps, Ed attended UC Berkeley for two years. He later transferred to Oregon State and has remained a loyal Beaver. In 1947 he met and married the love of his life, Shirley Reid, and they began a wonderful 64 year journey filled with many treasured memories.
Ed was president of Reid-Strutt Co., for 35 years. He later founded Stauffer Consulting and worked there with his son Mark for 25 years. At Hinson Church, Ed was involved in leadership and other activities, loving his Lord, whom he served there for over 65 years. Love of flying, fishing, and golf filled Ed's free time. He enjoyed vacations to their home in Sunriver and wonderful times with his beloved wife and family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 24, at 1 p.m. at Hinson Baptist Church. Contributions may be made to World Venture/James Cummings or Young Life. Arrangements are under the care of Bateman Carroll Funeral Home; for more information please go to www.batemancarrollfunerals.com
