September 13, 2012, note from Steve Voss, "Fairmount Cemetery office had no record of this burial. The death certificate states Andrew J. Lankford is buried in Fairmount. They have now added the name to their listing and showing the burial in 'Free Ground'. 'Fairmount Cemetery San Angelo, Texas', published in 2001 by San Angelo Genealogical & Historical Society, Inc., shows on page 247 'Lankford' buried in an unmarked grave on 2 Feb 1927 in 'Free Ground'. The 'Free Ground' covers Blocks A - F in Fairmount Cemetery. The majority of the burials in 'Free Ground' are unmarked. I will continue to hike out the area in search of this grave, just in case it is one of the minority of marked graves."
