Jane Sutton Still, 95, died on Friday, June 29, 2012 in Charleston, SC.
An esteemed local musician and educator, Mrs. Still served as a teacher in the Chattanooga City Schools, the Junior League Reading Center, Boyd Buchanan School, Central High School, and was reading supervisor and language arts specialist for the Hamilton County Schools. She was awarded the George Washington Medal by the Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge, a Life Membership in the Tennessee PTA, and held various offices in education organizations. After retirement, she volunteered at Changed Lives, Community Kitchen, Senior Neighbors Portable Meals, and Martin Boyd Christian Home.
She was a life-long member at Central Church of Christ.
She enjoyed travel, good food, excellent music, and CNN.
Preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James P. Still; she is survived by her daughter, Ellen Margaret Still; and son-in-law, Patrick A. Kell, of Charleston, SC.
A memorial service will be Sunday, July 8, 2012 at noon at Central Church of Christ. Interment, Highland Cemetery, Sparta, TN, at 4 p.m. CDT.
Memorial contributions may be made to the food pantry at Central Church of Christ, 400 Vine Street, Chattanooga, TN.
