Born in Rollingdam, NB, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lillian (Hodgson) Crawford and the wife of Walter M. McAdam.
Ruth was a member of St. Paul's United Church for many years and was a life time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed spending time at the cottages where family and friends were always welcome. Ruth will be sadly missed by her friends and family.
Survived by her loving husband, Walter; her children, Beth MacEachern (Raymond) of Calgary, AB, Marie Janes (Richard) of Calgary, AB and Mark Thomas (Lori) of Baku, 4 grandchildren, Jill MacEachern, Tara Janes, Matthew Thomas and MacKenzie Thomas; step–children, Nancy Gibbs of Fredericton, Michael McAdam (Wendy) of Vancouver, BC; six step-grandchildren, Craig McAdam, Andrew McAdam, T.J. McAdam and Josh McAdam, Stacey Clarke,(Richard) Erin Gibbs; two step-great–grandchildren, Peter and Cian McAdam; one sister, Una Beatteay of Toronto, ON; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Joseph Thomas; three sisters, and three brothers; one step-son, Timothy McAdam.
Visitation held at McAdam's Funeral Home on Sunday, July 17th, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 Ladies Auxiliary held a tribute service 7:00 pm at the funeral home. The Memorial Service was held in the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Monday July 18th, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Rev. H. G. MacKenzie officiated. Interment held in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery Extension. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Parkinson Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
