Adolph J. Bergel, 68, of 313 Truman St., Whitelaw, died unexpectedly Thursday
evening, September 25, at home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville,
and 11 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. The Rev. Richard Heymen
will offiicate and burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Clarks Mills.
Mr. Bergel was born March 9, 1912, in the Town of Kossuth, son of the late Frank
and Anna Schultz Bergel. He married Gladys Staudinger Oct. 10, 1934, at St. Mary
Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. The couple farmed in the Town of Franklin for many
years and then operted Bergel's Bar in Whitelaw for 19 years. He was also employed
in maintenance with Whitelaw Water and Sewer Department for 10 years. Mr. Bergel
was a member of Holy Name Society of St. Michael Church, Whitelaw Sportsmen's
Club and Rockea Hunting Club of Collins.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys, two sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Janel
Bergel of Whitelaw and Gary and Sue Bergel of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs.
Raymond (Evelyn) Remaker of Whitelaw and Mrs. Marcella Siudzinski of Denmark,
seven grandchildren and a great grandchild. A brother, Paul, an infant son and infant
daughter preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and
Monday until the time of service. A Rosary service will be 7 p.m. Sunday by Father
Heymen and the Holy Name Society.
