Walter “Wally” Brandl age 85 of 2029 Andrea Lane Manitowoc died at his residence Saturday evening on 11 February 2006. Born 29 April 1920 in the town of Cato to the late Charles and Sophie Vogel Brandl, on 3 September 1941 he married the former Evelyn Kostechka at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Reedsville. They owned and operated a dairy farm in the town of Cato where he was also
treasurer for a couple of years. He also built homes in Manitowoc and later worked at Manitowoc Shipbuilding, retiring in 1982. Walter volunteered at St Vincent de Paul in Manitowoc for 19 years and was a member of the Catholic Knights and St Francis of Assisi Parish Manitowoc.

Survivors include his wife; 6 children and their spouses: Joanne+John Schroeder-Manitowoc; Judy+Francis Larson-Howards Grove; Bette+Andy Hanson-Green Bay;
Chuck+Sandy Brandl-Manitowoc; Patti+Joel Trick-Maribel;
Gerald+Karla Brandl-Cato; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; one step great grandson; brother Reinhardt Brandl-Manitowoc; 2 sisters and one brother-in-law: Ida Heinzen, Florence+Vic Siehr, all of Manitowoc; sisters in law and brothers in law: Margie Kostechka-Mishicot, Arlene Kostechka-Reedsville, Florence+Melvin Kirt-Francis Creek, Marcella Lemberger-Manitowoc, Marie+Tom Domek-Florida, Donna+Norbert Hennessey-Whitelaw; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by son James Leo Brandl in 1945; 3 brothers and 4 sisters in law: Ed+Aurelia, Alfred+Florence, Kenneth+Lorraine, Geneva Brandl; one sister and 3 brothers in law: Hilda+Nick Schiesl, Norbert Heinzen, Joseph Miller; brothers in law Leo Kostechka, Bernard Kostechka, Donald Lemberger, Joseph Stuiber.

Funeral services were 11am on Wednesday 15 February 2006 at St Francis of Assisi on Waldo Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian burial was Rev Gerald Foley with burial at St Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery in Clarks Mills.

The family greeted relatives and friends from 4-8pm on Tuesday, 14 February 2006 at Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 S 14th St Manitowoc, where a prayer service was led by Deacon Paul Kieffer at 7:30 pm.

The visitation continued at St Francis of Assisi on Waldo from 10am on Wednesday the 15th until the time of service.

The couple loved to fish and spend time at Shawano Lake with family and friends. Walter also enjoyed polka dancing, wood crafts, gardening and playing cards.
