Eugene Patrick “Jim” Brennan, age 84, of 1815 County Hwy J, Cato, Wis., died at his home, surrounded by his family, Monday morning January 11, 2000, at his home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2000, at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Clarks Mills. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. John Conrad, with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Church Cemetery.
He was born March 8, 1915 in Valders, Wis., son of the late William and Mary Pankratz Brennan. He married the former Isabel Kasbaum on October 18, 1941 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Jim was employed at Manitowoc Ship Building as a crane operator and was owner operator of Brennan & Rolland Construction co. and later worked at Valders Lime Stone prior to his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Isabel Brennan, Cato; six daughters and one son, Eileen Mleziva and her husband, Harvey, rural Whitelaw and their children, Mark & Beth Mleziva, Gina & Brian Dresang, Troy, Stacy and Lisa; Bonita Brennan, Manitowoc; Carol “Inky” Gauger and her husband, Will, Manitowoc and their daughter, Heather; JoAnn Brennan Anderson and her husband, David, rural Manitowoc and their children, Dustin, Garret and HaLeigh Jo; William “Bill” Brennan, Cato; Laurie Brennan Wegforth and her husband, Tom, Manitowoc; Maureen Brennan Lehman and her husband, Dennis, Clarks Mills and their children, Nicholas, Cady and Alison; a foster daughter, Sue Rudin, Manitowoc; one great granddaughter, Madeline Mleziva. Also surviving is one half-sister, Beatrice McCulley, Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Rolland, Melba Knutson, both of Manitowoc. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by a step father, Jerry Rolland; one brother, Lawrence (Kelly) Brennan; an infant brother, William Brennan; two step borthers, Clem Rolland, Charles Rolland and one step sister, Florence Burke; one brother-in-law, Bernard McCulley.
Jim was an avid sportsman and in his y ounger years he played baseball, basketball and boxed. He enjoyed gardening, tree planting, watching his birds and television. He greeting everone with an Irish handshake and he entertained his family, grandchildren and friends with his Irish story telling.
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Clarks Mills, from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 p.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
