DEATH CAUSED BY GRIEF
A sudden and singular death occurred at Cato on Monday last. Edward Conrey, an old man of 70, had left home on Monday morning for Chicago where he was to have an operation performed. His aged wife was very much grieved at his going and this was intensified by her fear of the result of the operation. While Mr. Conrey was standing at the depot at Cato awaiting the arrival of the train a messenger arrived who informed him that his aged partner had died suddenly. The cause of death is supposed to have been heart disease, the fatal attack being caused by grief.
She was born in County Mayo, Ireland, in 1818 and came to this country in the year of the famine, 1847. She settled with her husband in Cato in 1855. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Bernard Murphy and Mrs. John McCully, both of Cato. Her remains were interred at the Catholic cemetery at Clarks Mills on Wednesday.
