Joseph F. Dugan, Sr., age 89, of Valders, passed to his eternal reward Saturday evening, May 18, 1996 at St. Mary’s Home, Manitowoc.
Funeral Mass will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Clarks Mills.  Rev. John Conrad will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.

He was born January 6, 1907 at Maple Grove, son of the late Thomas and Christina Vechart Dugan.  He attended St. Patrick School at Maple Grove.  Joe farmed in the town of Cato and was employed at the Valders Elevator Co-op and as custodian at Valders Public School retiring in 1974.

 He married Emma Hlavachek, October 26, 1932 at St. Mary’s Church, Reedsville.  His greatest joy was working with horses. He was an avid horse puller locally and state wide, being a member of the Dairyland Horse Pullers Association.  He was also a long time auctioneer belonging to State and National Auctioneer Associations.  Joe was a charter member of St. Mary’s Holy Name Society and a member of the Valders Senior Citizens.

Survivors include his wife, Emma; one son, Joseph T. (Micki) Dugan, Jackson, Wis.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Doris (Dotsie) (Tom) Nate, Maple Grove, Eunice (Bud) Wusterbarth, Kiel, Judy (Ken) Schroeder, Green Bay, Joyce (Dick) Braun, St. Nazianz; one brother, Mike (Dolores) Dugan, Chandler, Ariz.; two sisters, Stella Hill, Manitowoc, Agnes (Vic) Konop, Reedsville;  thirteen grandchildren, Tim and Pat Nate, Debbie Bauchnecht, Joe and Mike Wusterbarth, Kay Hammel, Laurie Guile, Lisa Patek, Lynn Schneider, Rick Braun, Bridget Braun, Brenda Schneider, Becki Jo Brandes, and 22 great grandchildren;  he will join in the great beyond his parents, a grandson, Brian Dugan, sisters, Marie Denor, Florence Piper, and Helen Radey; brothers, Archie Dugan and John Dugan.  He was a loving husband and father who always wanted his family together and we were until his departing from us.  He was a friend to all who met him, always having time for a friendly word or story.  He will be greatly missed by all.
