Emma B.  Dugan, 84, of Valders, died Tuesday afternoon, October 27, 1998, at her residence, after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 1998, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Clarks Mills.  Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. John Conrad. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Church Cemetery.

She was born February 28, 1914 at Reedsville, daughter of the late Frank and Barbara Kalcik Hlavachek. She attended Reedsville Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1932.

She married Joseph F. Dugan on October 26, 1932 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Reedsville. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1996. She was employed at the Valders Coop Hardware Store for 10 years and then at Marcals Restaurant for many years until her retirement.  She was a past president of the Valders Senior Citizens, a member of the St. Nazianz Senior Citizens and the Marian Council of St. Mary’s Church.

Survivors include five children and their spouses, Doris (Dotsie) and Tom Nate, Maple Grove, Eunice and Leon (Bud) Wusterbarth, Kiel, Joseph T. and Marilyn (Micki) Dugan, Jackson, Wis., Judy and Ken Schroeder, Green Bay, Joyce and Dick Braun, St. Nazianz; 13 grandchildren, Tim and Debbie Nate, Pat and Lynn Nate, Debbie and Dave Bauknecht, Joe and Mary Kay Wusterbarth, Mike and Sue Wusterbarth, Kay and Paul Hamel, Bridget and Terry Braun, Brenda and Rodney Schneider, Becki-Jo and Keith Brandes, Laurie Guile, Lisa and Dale Patek, Lynn and Randy Schneider, Rick and Alecia Braun; 26 great-grandchildren, Chad, Michael, LeaAnn, Jason, Patrick and Adam Nate, Kyle and Tyler Bauknecht, Luke, Ross and Emily Wusterbarth, Riley Hamel, Dawn and Eric Braun, Devan and Destanie Schneider, Damian and Danica Brandes, Brittney and Brandon Guile, Jared and Emma Patek, Austin and Zachery Schneider, Corbin and Dalton Braun; one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Leona Hlavachek, Brown Deer; one sister, Mayme Haas, Taus; two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law, Vic and Aggie Konop, Mike and Dolores Dugan, Stella Hill, Erna Hlavachek.  Further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Dugan; a grandson-in-law, Jeff Guile; five brothers and four sisters.
