Arthur S. Zipperer, age 85, of 609 S. County Road J, Cato, died on Monday morning,
Dec. 15, 2008, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
He was born on Feb. 15, 1923, in the town of Cato, son of the late Louis and Elizabeth
(Meidl) Zipperer. Arthur served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944 until
1946, where he participated in the Battle of the Bulge. On June 17, 1950, he married
the former Irene Denk at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. She preceded him in
death on March 5, 1985. Arthur was a utility construction worker for Bahr Construction
until his retirement. In 1975, he founded Jr. Wrigley Field and the Clarks Mills Athletic
Association, and was involved with this for many years. He earned an Appreciation
Award from the Manitowoc County Hall of Fame in 1980. Arthur enjoyed playing
horseshoes and was an avid Cubs fan. Arthur was a member of the Holy Name Society.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Irene; three brothers and two
sisters-in-law: Ray and Rose Zipperer, Norbert Zipperer, and Clarence and Donna
Zipperer; four sisters and three brothers-in-law: Margaret and Ed Kohlman; Loretta
and Helmer Franzen; Arlene and John Kocourek; and Clara Zipperer; four brothers-in-law
and one sister-in-law: Robert and Delores Kohlbeck; LeRoy McCarthy; Bill Crittenden;
and Lloyd Witt.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at St. Mary
Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev.
Richard Klingeisen, with burial to follow in the church cemetery with graveside military rites.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills, from
9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, until the time of service at 11:30 a.m.
The Christianson & Deja Funeral Home, Valders, is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.
The family would like to give a very special thank you to Grace and her family for the love
and care given to Art through the years and especially the last six months. Also, a thank
you to Dr. Herring, Dr. Campbell and staff of the medical floor at Holy Family for their
compassionate care given to Art.
