Melissa C. Pederson Zipperer, age 23, of 8951 W. Waterford Sq. N., Greenfield, Wis., a former Valders resident, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 16, 2002, after a life long battle with congenital heart disease. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2002, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. John Conrad with burial to follow in the St. Mary Church Cemetery.
Melissa was born February 23, 1978, in Chilton, daughter of Richard and Teresa Wendling Pederson. She attended St. Mary Elementary School and graduated from Roncalli High School with the class of 1996. Melissa graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Allied Health Professions in December of 1999 with a Bachelor of Science Degree and would have graduated in May 2002 with a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy with a certificate in Ergonomics. Melissa passed her National Board Exams in October, 2001. On July 14, 2001, Melissa married Michael Paul Zipperer at St. Mary Catholic church, Clarks Mills. She was previously employed by Krueger International of Manitowoc and Health South also of Manitowoc. Melissa was a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
Survivors include her husband, Michael P. Zipperer, Greenfield; her parents, Dick and Terry Pederson, Valders; two brothers, Bradley Pederson, Long Beach, Cal. And Vincent Pederson, Milwaukee; one sister, Angela (Michael)Kornelly, Manitowoc; her godchild and niece, Allison Kornelly, Manitowoc; maternal grandmother, Elaine Wendling, Valders; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael N. and Joan Zipperer, Cato; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Melissa and Suzi Zipperer, Cato, Bryan Zipperer, Milwaukee and Joey Zipperer, Cato. She is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Glenroy Wendling, paternal grandparents, Arndt and Julia Pederson and a very special cousin, Tara Benter.
In memory of Melissa, a scholarship fund will be established in her name at Roncalli High School. The family will greet relatives and friends at Christianson & Deja Funeral Home, Valders, Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and also at St. Mary Catholic church, Clarks Mills, Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
