Sarah "Sally" Rebecca Dopp (Gordy-Jamison), died July 29, 2008 surrounded by her family, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Nashua, N.H., after a brief battle with cancer. She was 81 years old.

Sally was born on March 7, 1927, in Siloam Springs, Ark. She was the daughter of Juanita and James Gordy. At the age of 14, she was adopted by her stepfather, Howard Jamison.

Sally grew up in the Joplin, Mo., area. She received an associate degree from Stephen's College, Columbia, Mo, and a B.A. in Education from the University of Missouri.

On Sept. 4, 1949, Sally married her high school sweetheart, David Carl Dopp. Together, they raised a family of four boys and moved many times as David worked through the General Electric training program. In 1969, they moved to Dover and made it their home. In December 2006, Sally and David relocated to the Hunt Community in Nashua, to be closer to their son's family.

Sally was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was deeply and lovingly involved with her family. Sally and David were active members of First Parish Church Dover, UCC for nearly 40 years.

She was a member of the Dover Garden Club and P.E.O. She enjoyed playing bridge and participated in a number of bridge groups including "The Gabby Girls." She enjoyed growing flowers and had such love and talent for taking pictures that her grandchildren referred to her as "Grandma Flash."

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, David Dopp; her son, John Dopp, his wife, Mary, and their children, Rebecca and Bridget; her son, Mark, and his wife, Cheryl, whose family added more grandchildren and great-grandchildren to Sally's list of loved ones; her grandchildren, Sarah and Chris Dopp and their mother, Nancy Talbott.

Her two oldest sons, David and James, predeceased Sally in 1987 and 1999.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday, July 31, from 5-8pm at Wiggin-Purdy Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave, Dover. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 1, at 6 pm at First Parish Church Dover UCC, 218 Central Ave., Dover. The Rev. Nancy Talbott will officiate. A family burial will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery, Dover.
