Master Sergeant Ronald D. Hafer, Sr., retired United States Air Force, of Summerville, crossed over into Eternal Rest on July 11, 2012.

Ronald Hafer was born June 20, 1932 in Maysville, Kentucky to the late Harlan H. Hafer and Lena M. Hafer (Zeigler).

He enlisted in the United Stated Air Force on June 20, 1949, as well as the Air National Guard during the years of 1961-1966, honorably serving over a 25 year period. Master Sgt. Hafer was named a Kentucky Colonel in 1965. The Colonelcy was presented to him by his cousin, the late Kenneth Fryman, also a Kentucky Colonel.

Ronald retired in 1974, ran his own feed store, horse stables and owned a small construction business. He loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing, and bringing his children out with him which gave him great joy in life.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Marian Hafer (Hatfield) of Kentucky; one sister: Charlene Lawson of Florida; six children: Kathy Wheatley of Texas, Rhonda Helton of Florida, Ronald Hafer, Jr. of New Mexico, Valerie White of Tennessee, Lisa Shealy of South Carolina, and Christopher Hafer of South Carolina, all born to his second wife of 44 years, the late Beatrice L. Hafer (Ashline); 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a nephew; and a niece.

Graveside services will be held at Beaufort National Cemetery, July 18, 2012 at 11:00 o'clock.
