August W. Hoeft, 95, of Menomonee Falls, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Cedar Community in West Bend.

He was born on Nov. 20, 1914 in West Bend to the late Ernst and Gesine Hoeft. On April 6, 1940 he was united in marriage to Mae Elizabeth Marlborough in Milwaukee. Mae preceded him in death on Sept. 23, 1988.

August worked for Manitowoc Engineering where he built cranes as a maintenance machinist. He retired in 1976. He was a member of the West Bend Moose Lodge #1398 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and gambling.

He is survived by his three children, Thomas Hoeft of Kewaunee, Mary Pat (Bud) Walsh of Menomonee Falls, Margaret "Peg" Carlson of Menomonee Falls; nine grandchildren, Chris (Rich) Kinjerski, Shawn (Mary) Walsh, Sandy (Bill) Bosman, Colleen (Kevin) Sucher, Pat (Sarah) Hoeft, Kathleen (Kevin) Spott, Kelly (Mike) Czubin, Debbie (Kurt) Kroener and Devin Walsh; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Marie Strebing of Plymouth; four brothers, Robert Hoeft of West Bend, Walter Hoeft of West Bend, Paul Hoeft of Cascade and William (Betsy) Hoeft of Green Bay; many other relatives and friends.

August was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mae, daughter-in-law Judy, and two brothers, Hugo and Arthur Hoeft.

Funeral services in remembrance of August will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, July 19 at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., with Deacon Ronald Schneider presiding. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home. A reception will follow. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Clark Mills, Wis.
