Carl was born March 23, 1928, in Manitowoc, son of the late Charles and Anna (Leverentz) Klein. He served in the U.S. Navy. On July 10, 1948, he married Jeanette Anhalt at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Carl was employed for many years in the building trades, and later as a supervisor in the welding department at the Manitowoc Company.
Survivors include his wife: Jeanette Klein, Manitowoc; one daughter: Andrea Klein, Oshkosh; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Caroline Zik, Casco; Evangeline and Fred Gadzinski, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law: Bernadine Klein, Manitowoc; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by a son: Daniel Klein; four brothers: Ernest (Evelyn) Klein, Harold (Ester) Klein, Oscar and harry Klein; four sisters: Viola (Joseph) Nitka; Leona Shimek; Eleanore Mays; and Violet (Clarence) Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. James Jugenheimer with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
The Christianson & Deja Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Valders, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
A very special thank you to the staff at Shady Lane Nursing Home, for the comfort and care given to Carl in his last day.
