Age 89, of Smyrna GA. Dorothy "Dot" Wiggins Deeter, age 89, of Mableton passed away on Monday, January 16, 2012 while living at Delmar Gardens in Smyrna with her many friends. Mrs. Deeter was born in Atlanta on August 21, 1922 to Robert Alexander Wiggins and Annie Harvey Wiggins. Mrs. Deeter was a proud Atlanta native having graduated from Commercial High School in Atlanta as well as Draughon's Business College. She willingly served our country in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Her almost 30 year civil service career included work at the U.S. Trasury, the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Defense Contract Administration. Over the last 25 years, she took great pleasure in her church, Westside Baptist in Mableton. In addition to being known as a generous person, she loved the hobby of crocheting. Mrs. Deeter is preceded in death by her husband, Derwin Deeter in 1989. Survivors include her son, David Deeter and his wife Cantey of Atlanta; daughters, Phyllis Barber of Temple and Sue and her husband Jim Beynon of Villa Rica; brother, Richard Wiggins and his wife Martha of Duluth; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 1:00pm - 3:00pm Saturday, January 21, 2012 at White Columns Chapel in Mableton with a graveside service at 3:30pm with Dr. A.T. Stewart officiating at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, you can make donations to Westside Baptist Church in Mableton or Whitefield Academy.
