Elaine Guex Anderson, age 84, formerly of 3606 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc, died Wednesday afternoon, March 28, 2007, at the Manitowoc Health Care Center.
She was born Aug, 31, 1922, in Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Louis and Lillian(Greycarek) Guex. Elaine was a graduate of Denmark High School, class of 1939, and also attended Lakeshore Technical College. On April 25, 1942, she married Leeland H. Anderson at All Saints Catholic Church, Denmark. He preceded her in death May 14, 2005. Elaine was employed at Park Drug and Osco Drug for a number of years. She also was employed as the manager of Joan's Hallmark at Shopko Plaza until her retirement in 1988. Elaine was a volunteer and member at the Capitol Civic Centre and the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department. She also served as a Eucharist minister at St. Paul Catholic Church and Holy Family Hospital. She was a member of the Manitowoc Senior Center and St. Francis of Assisi.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Mary Jane and James Nickels, Manitowoc; a daughter-in-law: Monica Anderson, Whitelake, Mich.; four grandchildren: Stephan and Corie Nickels, Madison; Christopher Nickels, Philadelphia; Andrea Nickels and her fiancé: Sean Roberts, Miami, Fla.; Renee and Dave Drap, Whitelake, Mich.; two great-granddaughters: Mackenzie Rae and Ella Monique; two step-great-grandsons: Ryan and Brandon; a brother: Milton Guez, Mishicot; a sister: Louise Devereux, Manitowoc; and a sister-in-law: Joyce Guex, Shawano.
She was also preceded in death by a son: James Anderson in 1992; two brothers: John and Richard Guex; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Marion and Warren Craft; Jeanette Beck; a sister-in-law and dear friend: Mary Guex; and a sister-in-law: Vivian Guex.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Daniel Felton with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc, from 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2007, until the time of service at 11 a.m.
A memorial has been established in her name. The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation CareCenter, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the loving care givers who helped take care of Elaine at home for as long as possible. We would also like to thank the staff at Manitowoc Health Care Center, for their care the last weeks of her life.
