Leeland H. "Lee" Anderson, age 88, formerly of 3606 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc, a current resident of St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, died Saturday morning, May 14, 2005, at the home. He was born Dec. 12, 1916, in New Denmark, Brown County, son of the late Herman and Lillian (Hansen) Anderson. Lee attended Denmark Grade and High School. He served in the Wisconsin State Guard from 1942 until 1945. On April 25, 1942, he married the former Elaine Guex at All Saints Catholic Church, Denmark. Lee grew up in the Denmark area where he operated the family farm, moving to Manitowoc after his marriage. Lee worked for Wisconsin Fuel & Light Company as a service technician for 23 years. He was then promoted to management as head of the service department until his retirement in 1979. Lee was a former assistant manager at St. Vincent de Paul Society, past member of the Golden "K" and a former St. Paul Catholic Church council member serving for six years. Lee was also a charter member of the Perpetual Adoration Society of St. Paul Catholic Church. He served in various other capacities during his many years as a member of St. Paul's. Survivors include his wife: Elaine Anderson, Manitowoc; a daughter and son-in-law: Mary Jane and Jim Nickels, Manitowoc; four grandchildren: Stephan and Corie Nickels, Madison; Christopher Nickels, Philadelphia; Andrea Nickels, Madison; Renee and Dave Drap, Illinois; one great-granddaughter: Mackenzie Rae; a brother-in-law: Milton Guex, Denmark; and two sisters-in-law: Louise Devereux, Manitowoc; Joyce Guex, Shawano; also surviving is Monica Anderson, Milwaukee, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by a son: James Anderson in 1992; a sister: Pearl Storzer; three brothers-in-law: Donald Storzer, John and Richard Guex; and four sisters-in-law: Marion Craft, Jeanette Beck, Mary Guex and Vivian Guex. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2005, until the time of service at 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2005 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Daniel Felton with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, Highway 310, Manitowoc. The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
