Major League Baseball Player. A native of Chicago, who was also known as 'Chick' , played his entire Major League Career for the Chicago team of the ill-fated Federal league. The Chicago Federal League team, which was coached by former Cub Joe Tinker, was known as the Chi-Feds in 1914, and the Whales in 1915. An infielder, Jack Farrell played mostly 2nd base for his hometown team. He also had stops with Denver of the Western League and York Nebraska of the Nebraska State League After the Feds folded, there was talk of him signing with the Cubs, but he decided on a guaranteed contract with a minor league club. He died at the age of 23 from pneumonia after a five days illness. Over the course of career, he accrued a lifetime average of .229 with 49 RBI's and 171 hits and 20 stolen bases in 226 league games.
