Canine Actor. Born Eztel von Oeringen and trained to be a police/war dog, he was brought to America by the filmmaking team of Laurence Trimble and Jane Murfin. The duo changed his name and trained him to act. He became one of the earliest canine silent film stars of his time, earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Movie credits include "The Silent Call" (1921), "Brawn of the North" (1922), "The Love Master" (1924), "North Star" (1925), "White Fang" (1925), and "Return of Boston Blackie" (1927). In 1929, while he was filming a scene for an upcoming movie, he slipped and accidentally made contact with a studio light. He was badly burned and died a few days later.
