Nancy died at age 57. Her death certificate recorded T.B. as cause of death, but family members remember that she died as a result of an appendectomy. Three minor sons were still at home, as well as second husband, Reuben.

She had a son, Robert (1894-1969), by her first husband, W. Brownlow Howerton (b.1876).

Nancy married Reuben Standifer in 1897. She gave birth to nine children: Commodore Dewey (1898-1936), Dillard Carson (1900-1970), Lucy (1903-?), Susie (1905-?), Bessie (1909-1947), Rosie (1912-2000), John (1915-1988), Claude (1919-2012) and Clay (1923-2008).
