OBITUARY : Robert Allen Halliwell
RITTMAN -- Robert Allen Halliwell, age 75 of 90 Greenwood Avenue, Rittman, Wayne County, Ohio died Thursday, October 6, 1994 at University Hospital in Cleveland. Services will be Monday, October 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, with Revs. C. Michael Gibson and F. Dean Donaldson officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home, where the Sterling Knights of Pythias Lodge will hold services at 4:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, 211 North Metzger Avenue, Rittman, Ohio 44270.

He was born September 11, 1919 in Sterling, Wayne County, Ohio, to Glenn Clark Halliwell and Mamie Alice Barton. He was raised by his uncle Harry Halliwell and aunt Olive Mills of Sterling, Wayne County, Ohio. He was employed at Doors Incorporated in Wadsworth, Medina County, Ohio, for the past twenty-three years and was formerly a self-employed contractor. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rittman, where he had formerly served on the building committee. He was a charter member of the Sterling Knights of Pythias Lodge, Wadsworth VFW Post 1089 and the Howard A. Blair Post 423 of the American Legion in Rittman, Ohio.

Robert was a 1939 graduate of Sterling High School and had served on the Rittman Fire Department for twenty-seven years, retiring as assistant chief. He married Beulah Lucille Hickman on 25 May 1940, and she survives. Surviving in addition to his wife, are sons and daughter-in-laws: Jerry and Barb Halliwell of Rittman, James and Jayne Halliwell of Columbus, and Jon and Laurie Halliwell of Rittman; daughters and son-in-laws: Judy and David Graves of Rittman, Jane and Jay Lucco of Norton, and Joan and Rick Ramsier of Lawrenceville Georgia.; eighteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother, George Newton Halliwell of Wadsworth, and two sisters, Dorothy Helen Weaver of North Ridgeville and Jo Ann Marken of Wooster.
