The league recruited young women to play baseball to keep the spirit of the game alive while the men fought overseas. Her story, as well as that of her teammates, was shown in the 1992 movie "A League of Their Own." Rosie O'Donnell played Rosie in the movie. She was voted to the All-Star team in 1952, 1953, and 1954, when the league disbanded and she retired from baseball. She, along with the rest of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, was enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. Rosie worked for 20 years as a press operator with Amerock Corporation in Rockfort, Illinois, retiring in 1978. She then moved to Sterling Heights, Michigan.
