George Meck, 72, of 404 Acres street, died Sunday at 7:45 p.m. in University Hospital, Iowa City after an extended illness.
He was born in Burlington, Oct. 14, 1875 and was a life resident. He married Etta Bergaentzle in Burlington in 1912. She died in 1920. Meck was a city employee until 12 years ago when poor health forced his retirement.
Surviving are a son, Harold, Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Mrs. Ellis Whitham, Burlington, 6 grandchildren; a brother, William, Pasadene, Cal.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Sophia Marietta, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Luther Weaver, Spring Grove. Two brothers and 2 sisters are dead.
The body was taken to the Burnett Wallen funeral home.
