Florence was born in northern Wisconsin and lived much of her young life around Superior, Wisconsin. The depression was hard on her and her husband,
Dr. Raymond Gustave Gudeen, D.C.

Both were tired of the cold and snow. It seems outhouses and such get a little cold. As the family story goes, the two packed their car and set off into the sunset. They decided they would call family when they found their new home. The road literally ended at the Gulf Coast and the couple decided to establish themselves and live the remainder of their lives around Corpus Christi, Texas.

Florence reportedly died of "Bone Cancer". As I child, I remember that she had a massectomy on of her breasts, but I am not sure if her Bone Cancer was a result of breast Cancer metastasis or if she had developed something else such as multiple myeloma.

All I know is that is was fun to sit on Nana's bed and talk with her for hours and hours.
