Jerome was born in Chicago and lived there all
of his life.
He enlisted in the US Navy 7 March 1966 at
the Chicago Recruiting Office.After completing
his boot camp training he was stationed at St
Albans Naval Hospital In Cairo,NY.
Upon arriving in Vietnam 28 May 1968,Jerome
was assigned to H&S Company,2nd Battalion,
3rd Marine Regiment,3rd Marine Division.
Jerome died as a result of gunshot wounds to
the body from hostile automatic weapons fire
while participating on a company sweep north
of Jones Creek,during Operation Napoleon/
Saline.
Jerome was single and served his country for
2 years,3 months and 1 day.KIA#30,403.
He had been in Vietnam for 1 month and 8
days.
Jerome was 21 years,7 months and 20 days old.
Survived by his mother;Daisy Darring Starcks
of 1415 E 75th St,Chicago,IL and his 5 sisters.
His grandparents;McCully & Bertha Darring of
Chicago,IL.
His father;Milford Leroy Starcks of Tacoma,
WA.
