Hall of Fame Harness Racing Driver. Born in California, he moved to Pennsylvania when he was five years old to live with his grandfather on his farm. For fun, he would ride around in a jog cart and soon the desire to participate in harness racing developed. He began racing at the age of 15 in 1929 and continued until April 1990, when he retired at the age of 77. In a career that spanned eight decades, he raced in 40 countries and won a total of 2,442 races including the Hambletonian, the Yonkers Trot, the Kentucky Futurity, the Fox Stakes and the Messenger. Though he had many horses through the years, his most memorable racehorse was the famed Adios, whom he bought in 1948. They made a good team and won many races. The "Delvin Miller Adios" race was named after this duo and is held each year at the Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Pennsylvania. Other honors include being inducted into the Harness Racing Living Hall of Fame in 1968. He was posthumously inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 1999 and there is a Delvin Miller Museum devoted to his career located in Avella, Pennsylvania. In 1996, Marie Hill wrote a book on his life titled "Mr. Harness Racing: The Story of Delvin Miller". He passed away at the age of 83 from heart failure after a long illness.
