MUNCIE - Norman L. Jeffers, 85, of Muncie passed away on August 12, 2012 with his family at his side.

Norman was born on March 29, 1927 in Oneida, TN to the late Lawrence and Mary (Chambers) Jeffers.

He was a Golden Gloves Boxer, U.S. Army Veteran and Reserve Police Officer for seventeen years. Norman married Faye Phillips on June 5, 1948 in Dalton, GA. He retired from BorgWarner in 1989 after thirty-nine years of service and owned several businesses. Norman was a member of the Sympathy Club and Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Jeffers; children, Peggy Ann (Bryan) Ciula of Warsaw, Norman L. Jeffers, Jr. of Liberty, IN, Steve (Vicki) Jeffers of Muncie, Scottie (Jenny) Jeffers of Muncie; sister, Monese Lewis of Chattanooga, TN; brother, Lindal (Juanelle) Jeffers of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren; eight soon to be nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Norman is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and a sister.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home with Dr. Collins Glen officiating.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
