Edward Book

Edward Book, 79, of 115 Hillcrest Ave. died at 9:10 a.m. yesterday in Jameson Memorial Hospital after being in ill health for some time. Mr. Book was born in Shelton, Neb. on June 21, 1891 to the late Walker and Mary Ann Barnes Book. He was a retired custodian of the New Castle School System where he was employed for over 40 years. He was a member of Third United Presbyterian Church, the Men's Bible Class and had been a deacon of the church. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret McCracken, whom he married Oct. 29, 1918; a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Hulda) Moore of Portersville RD 2; three brothers, Herbert of Poole, Neb., Robert of Jamestown, N.D. and James of New Castle; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Friends will be received at the Robert A. Myers Home for Funerals, 208 N. Jefferson St. from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home conducted by Dr. Cuyler Ferguson of Third UP Church and the Rev. David White of Princeton UP Church. Burial will be in Plain Grove UP Cemetery South.
