Justin Kimber Dyche was born in Auburn, Shawnee County, Kansas on April 12th, 1893.

He is the Son of Wilson Winning Dyche and Mary Christy Moore Dyche;

Grandson of Alexander Boyle Dyche (of Virginia) and Mary Ann Reilly Dyche (of Pennsylvania) and of Samuel Henderson Moore and Margaret Gibson Moore (both of Pennsylvania);

Brother of Julia Vivien Dyche, Homer Wilson Dyche, Arthur Moore Dyche and Donald Christy Dyche.

Justin's parents died when the children were very young and by the 1910 Census the siblings had been split up and sent to live with other family members.....Justin and his sister Julia, along with baby brother Donald, went to California to live with their Mother's sister and her husband, Catherine and Walter Howard (a Presbyterian Minister); the other two brothers stayed in Kansas with their Uncle and Grandfather.

By the time of WWI, Justin was a student at The College of the Pacific in San Jose, California, studying Chemistry.

He enlisted June 5, 1917 in the U.S. Army Air Force; originally placed in Infantry he was transferred to Aviation and sent to Kelly Field, Washington, where he trained as a pilot; commissioned as 2nd Lt. May 20th 1918; transferred to Oklahoma, then to Texas, then to Langley Field in Virginia to train as an Aerial Observer.

Justin was discharged from military service on Jan 7th, 1919 and returned to college in California..... he graduated in June 1919. He later did his graduate work at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.

On August 17, 1920 Justin Kimber Dyche married Wilma Dorothy Sherman, whom he met when they were both students at the University of the Pacific. They married in the Methodist Church in Santa Clara, California. The following day the young couple left on a Honeymoon trip to Honolulu, Hawaii. They remained in Honolulu while Justin taught Chemistry in Punaho. Two years later, Wilma returned to California to give birth to their first child and then returned to Hawaii with their baby daughter.

After returning to California, Justin and Wilma settled in Watsonville, where Justin began teaching at the Watsonville Joint Union High School.

Justin and Wilma are the parents of three children:
Vivian Aileen Dyche (Mrs. Stanley A. Martin), Dorothy Kathryn Dyche (Mrs. Richard Eldon "Dick" Bretschneider) and Justin Kimber Dyche, Jr.

In 1941, unable to re-enlist for WWII, Justin was sent to help with the War Effort by teaching soldiers academic training at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California, then to Berkeley to train additional troops at the University of California at Berkeley, California.

The 1941 Yearbook for Watsonville High School, 'The Manzanita', was dedicated to Justin K. Dyche, saying:
"Mr. Dyche's words of encouragement and his understanding spirit will be long remembered and cherished by the many students who have worked with him."

After WWII, Justin returned to his teaching career at Watsonville High School, where he remained as a favorite teacher until his death.
