They moved to Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama in 1903 where they took up residence at 1113 North 25th Street. Kate was a member of the First Methodist Church, the W.C.T.U. (Woman‘s Christian Temperance Union), the Edgwood Club, and the Chautauqua Circle.
Kate died on December 27, 1946 at age 83 years, 5 months, and 21 days in Birmingham. She was buried on December 31, 1946 in Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham.
William and Kate had four children, Herbert Stockham, William Edward Stockham, Douglass Stockham, and Richard James Stockham.
