The native of Webb City, Mo., was a Concord resident. He enjoyed building and remodeling homes and gardening.
He is survived by his sons, Gerald Lorne France of Pacheco, Robert LeRoy France of Concord , Walter Roland France of Oregon and John Emery France of Texas; sister, Brooksie Payton of Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. His wife, Mildred Peach France, died in 1979.
