Callie Crayne, 85, of 244 First Avenue, Waynesburg, a retired music teacher, died at 7:25 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 1979 in Greene County Memorial Hospital after an illness of two weeks.

A daughter of Stephen and Mary Gordon Crayne, she was born August 11, 1893, in Morgan township and had resided all her life in Greene County.

Miss Crayne graduated from the Waynesburg College School of Music in 1917 and taught piano in the Jefferson and Waynesburg areas for 56 years prior to her retirement in 1973. She was a member of the Coallick United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Allison (Louis) Phillips of Waynesburg; a niece, Mrs. William (Ellen) Garrison of Waynesburg, and a nephew, Herbert C. Davis of Huntington Beach. Calif.

A brother, D. W. Crayne, is deceased.

(ED. note: Social Security Death Index and her obituary show birth date of 8/11/1893, but Greene County, PA Birth Doc. 1, p. 22, line 33 show August 6, 1893And it hardly seems lkely that a record of 8/6 would be created five days BEFORE her birth.)
