Sportsman. Driver of the "Notre Dame" unlimited hydroplane. He was killed in a collision along with driver Don Wilson of the "Miss Budweiser", during the President's Cup Regatta in Washington D.C. Manchester's death marked the third racing fatality of the day. Earlier in the day Ron Musson, driver of the "Miss Bardahl" had been killed in a separate boating accident. The combined deaths of Manchester, Musson and Wilson resulted in the deadliest loss of life in a single day, in unlimited hydroplane racing history.
