Anna Babjak was born in village of Jurkova Vola, Saris megye (county) Slovakia on 17 December 1888 and came to U.S. in 1907, settling first in Passaic, NJ. In 1909 Anna married Michael Petruska (also from Jurkova Vola)& they moved on to Trenton, NJ, where their children were born. In late 1920 Anna & her family moved to Washington county, Pennsylvania where they lived until shortly after Anna's death in Dec., 1922.
Besides her husband, Anna left behind eight children, four brothers and one sister, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother Joseph, who came to the U.S. in 1904 and returned to their homeland at the outbreak of World War I. (He was killed in action in Europe during the war.)
Granddaughter Marianne -- with the help of several Babjak cousins (including Anna's brother George's son & daughter)-- is working on the Babjak family's history, to one day be published on-line.
