LT Mark Brenke is the son of Frank Henry Brenke & Edna T Balsager.
He attended Annunciation Academy and was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School in the class of '37. And a graduate of the University of Arkansas.
He was sent to England early in April 1944 to join the 90th Division, advancing into France on D-day. On July 7, 1944, LT Brenke lost his life in action, having taken part in the famed rout of the German forces at St. Lo.
He was awarded the Presidential Citation and the Purple Heart, both awards being made posthumously.
He was a member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Pine Bluff Council No. 1153.
He is survived by his parents Mr. & Mrs. Frank H Brenke, sisters Audrey Brenke, Mrs. Marie Thompson, brothers Frank D. Brenke and A. Charles Brenke.
