James Ray "Dick" Eudy, age 89 of 346 W. Red Cross Road, Oakboro, NC died Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Britthaven of the Piedmont, Albemarle.He was born September 4, 1920 in Stanly County to the late Daniel Ellis "D.A." Eudy and Effie Mae Hatley Eudy. He was owner/operator of Eudy's Auto Sales and Service in Red Cross. He was a self employed farmer and served in the US Army during WWII. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Isabelle "Bell" Hahn Eudy of the home; three brothers, J.C. Eudy of Albemarle, Gaston L. Eudy of Albemarle and Melvin Mitchell Eudy of Oakboro; three sisters, Helen E. Burleson of High Point, Peggie Sue Cox of Norwood and Myrtle Dean Mabry of Norwood; a nephew; John Bowers of Oakboro; two great nieces Trish Callicutt of Oakboro and Tracy Efird of Locust; and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.Visitation was Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon. His funeral followed at noon at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel. Rev. Garry Baker officiated. Burial followed at Stanly Gardens of Memory. Military honors were by Albemarle-Stanly County DAV Chapter 12.Memorials may be made to: Alzheimer's Associa-tion, 3800 Shamrock Dr. Charlotte, NC 28215.
