"Add." Add was the son of Henry and Nancy Filler Snoots. When he was a few year old the family moved from Virginia to Adams Twp., Ohio. Like his brothers, Add was a blacksmith. He had a shop in Adamsville for about 40 years and taught many young men the trade. He took a break from business to serve in the Civil War, in the 160th Ohio Inf. Co. E.
At his death, the following was written about him in the Adamsville Register:

Ad. Snoots was one of the best known business men that ever lived in Adamsville. He was kind, accommodating and a good workman, and he had the confidence and good will of a very large patronage. Winning in his manner, pleasing in conversation, open hearted and kind to all who came in contact with him, gave him a high social standing that few men ever possess. However, unforeseen, unfortunate events rendered his last few years here less active than they would have otherwise been, nevertheless, his removal from Adamsville was deeply regretted, and his active business career here is still fresh and green in the memory of the many who a quarter of a century ago were his faithful patrons.

Add was survived by his wife, the former Sophia Geller. Also these children: Albert, Harvey, Homer and Howard Snoots, and Anna O'Neal and Mary Sauer. A son Marion died in 1883. He was also survived by 10 grandchildren and siblings John, William and George Snoots, Emily Bainter and Sarah Harress.
