James Brown Straw, son of Ezekiel & Elizabeth (Brown) Straw,born 11 March 1794 [per birth and death records] in Hopkinton NH. He m. 14 March 1819 to Mehitable Fisk in Wilmot, NH..He lived in Warner, NH 1823-24 per tax lists. By 1830 he and his brother Stephen moved to Lowell, MA where James worked in the cotton mills of the Appleton Co. as surveyor and overseer. Their children attended public school in Lowell, MA. James died 14 Aug 1830 in Lowell, MA of typhus and is buried there.

1. +Ezekiel Straw, b. 19 Dec 1819 Salisbury NH [who later became Gov of New Hampshire 1872 and re-elected 1873]
2. Miranda Straw, b. Oct 1825 NH: m. Benjamin F. Manning; in 1850 living in Manchester NH, his mother Susan, and sisters Susan and Mary living with them. In 1900 she was living a widow in Manchester NH. The census indicates she never had children. She died 1906 in Manchester, NH of heart disease
3. Abigail Straw b. 22 Apr 1827 - never married; died 1895 of paralysis
4. James B. Straw 3rd b. 9 Apr 1831; m. 1858 to Clara Hancock in Franklin, NH. James died 1894 in Manchester, NH of influenza.
