MUNCIE--Betty Jean Scroggins, 85, passed away early Friday morning, August 31, 2012 at the Elm Croft Senior Living Center following an extended illness.
She was born on July 6, 1927 in Muncie, the daughter of John William and Dora E. (Lutes) Parmer.
Betty married the love of her life, William "Buck" Scroggins Jr. on September 1, 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1999.
Mrs. Scroggins graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1974. She had been a member of the Eden United Church of Christ, the Delaware County Senior Citizens, T.O.P.S., enjoyed crocheting, knitting and playing cards.
Survivors include one son, Stephen Scroggins (wife-Lynn), Gaston; three daughters, Carolyn Auten (companion-Jeff Younce), Lewisville, Connie Allen (husband-Mark), Muncie, and Cathy Scroggins (husband-William "JJ" Fushimi, Heber City, Utah; six grandchildren, Jason Fuson (wife-Brandi), Pell City, Alabama, Kevin Scroggins, Muncie, Devin Scroggins, Gaston, Lindsay McMasters (husband-John), Lafayette, Cody and Morgan Allen, both of Muncie; three great-grandchildren, Kearstin, Tyler and Olivia Fuson, all of Pell City, Alabama; one brother, William Parmer, Wauconda, IL; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 1/2 years, William "Buck" Scroggins; her parents; one sister, Bessie M. Burtner; one brother, Charles A. Parmer.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Max James officiating. Burial will follow at the Elm Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday, September 3, 2012 at the Parson Mortuary and again from 9 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the mortuary.
