Per Gladys Griffin Hagar: Eliza Griffin died in child birth. Her husband claimed the baby was not his and he would have nothing to do with it. Eliza's father (William Marion Griffin) brought her home to be buried in the family cemetery, but he also would have nothing to do with the child. It was always assumed that the baby was put up for adoption, but the family had no further information as to the baby's fate.
