Charles Leffler. 93, of Route 5, died at 5:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at Sharp's nursing home where he had been a patient two and one-half years.
Born July 8, 1867, in Decatur county, he was the son of Abraham and Sara Stainbrook Leffler. He was a member of Methodist church and served as a member of Columbus city council during the administration of Dr. E. A. Tucker, who was mayor from 1922 through 1925.
He was employed by Hawcreek Leather company 22 years and at Mooney tannery, now Howes Leather company, 11 years. His wife, Mrs. Zelpha Leffler, died May 23, 1939, and three daughters also preceded him in death. Survivors are a son, Joseph D. Leffler of Route 5; three daughters, Mrs. Homer Elliott of Columbus, Mrs. Paul Denham of Indianapolis and Mrs. Buryle Bright of Monrovia, Calif.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held at 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Hathaway funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Earl Leffler of Shelbyville. Burial will be at Garland Brook cemetery. Casket will be open at the funeral home after noon Wednesday.
