Professional Baseball Player. He hit the National League's first grand slam in World Series history in Game 4 of the 1962 World Series against the New York Yankees. His hit snapped a seventh-inning tie and helped the San Francisco Giants to a 7-3 victory. He played second base in the major leagues from 1961-68, batted .243 with 20 home runs and 152 RBIs, on the San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets. He worked in the New York Mets organization for 24 seasons as a major league coach, a minor league manager and was the minor league adviser for the 2004 season.
