"Washington Mabie died Saturday morning at the home of his son, Emmet Mabie, in South Valley. He had been in poor health for some time and was seventy years of age. His funeral was held Tuesday in the Christian church of which he was a member, Rev. J. H. Bassett, pastor, officiating. Surviving are his wife; son, Emmet Mabie, of South Valley; one daughter, Mrs. Eugene Haynor of Ouaquaga; a brother, David Mabie of Amsterdam, and one sister, Mrs. Bert Gray of South Valley.
