Ruby Goodman, Wellington native, late of Whittier, California, died Tuesday January 29, 2002, in Whittier at her home. She was 90 years of age at the time of her death. Internment at Rose Hills Memorial Park.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2002 at Guerra-Gutierrez Mortuary with interment at Rose Hills Memorial Park.

Goodman was born March 10, 1911, in Wellington. She grew up, was educated and lived her early life in this community. She graduated from Wellington High School with the Class of 1929. Her father owned the Buick dealership and was active in community affairs.

She married Eddie Goodman in April 1937 in Cotton, California and they moved to Whittier in 1951 where he was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad as a brakeman. He preceded her in death in 1992 after 55 years of marriage.

When the Goodmans moved to the Whittier area in 1951, it was the same year the Whittier Seventh Day Adventist Church was organized, and she became one of the charter members. She was also a member of the Union Pacific Overland Club, Union Pacific Old Timers, Whittier School District PTA and the Order of the Eastern Star of Las Vegas. Goodman was devoted to her family and loved attending her grandson's sports and school events. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading and cooking.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Dixie and Dr. K. Leo Buxbaum of Whittier and grandsons, Charles Buxbaum of New York City and James Buxbaum of San Francisco.
